Girls Rule, Too: Week 6: Find Out How Kashmir Thompson Turned a Passion into a Business

The greatest thing about art is how it can be interpreted from so many different perspectives. 26-year-old, Kashmir Thompson, has honed in on her artistic craft, her love for 90’s-00’s Hip-Hop & R&B, and has created a Black Pop Culture brand that will resonate for years to come.

Thompson’s pieces have been recognized in Essence and worn by celebs such as Angela Bassett and Karrueche Tran, according the to Black Matter Us. Through a creative process and a paint brush, Thompson is able to transcribe positive memories into physical paraphernalia that can last a lifetime.

This week for ‘Girls Rule, Too’, we are recognizing Thompson as an inspiration for you to create. At first, Thompson felt as if her art wasn’t received very well, but she didn’t give up. She believed in herself and kept working at it until she found how her niche of creativity and expression could be combined together into one.

Life and the people around can discourage you and make you feel like you aren’t good enough; when in fact, you are. If you are an artist continue to be great and create. Somebody’s going to follow it, one day. You just have to keep pushing.
