Girls Rule, Too: Week 8: #BlackGirlMagic: Golden Globe Edition

Do you guys remember that when Black Twitter went in on the Oscars and renamed it ‘#OscarsSoWhite'? The reason being was because people felt as if the Oscars were lacking diversity. Well, as we are on the embark of a new year, that means a new award season, too.

Throughout television and movies, the representation of African-Americans has been prominent. I mean, when was the first you seen a black woman getting her hair sewn in on national television?

 

Oh okay. I thought so.   

The 2017 Golden Globe nominations are in and it’s nothing but #BlackGirlMagic running rapid! Stars like Issa Rae, Kerry Washington, Viola Davis, and Tracee Ellis Ross have been recognized for nominations.
